Maintaining and evolving two historic French brands online.
Project Overview
Daum is a crystal glassworks company part of the French intangible cultural heritage, founded in 1878 and specialized in artistic crystal objects. Haviland is a luxury porcelain company, established in 1838.
Following an internal audit, it was discovered that the websites of both brands had not been maintained by the responsible company. Consequently, the internal and external sites had not been updated for several months, and sometimes years. We promptly intervened to restore a stable situation and prevent any risk of service interruption or data leakage.
Actions Taken
We followed our standard procedure for WordPress site audit and recovery:
Archived the sites in production.
Installed the site locally and on a staging server.
Implemented the automatic deployment process.
Deployed the site on our new architecture.
Fixed bugs locally.
Deployed the updated sites.
The identical deployment to the previous production allowed us to isolate problems related to our developments from those linked to the new environment.
In this context, we recovered three sites, those of the two brands, plus an intranet dedicated to file exchange.
Our Contributions Since Taking Over the Sites:
Improved performance.
Corrected major SEO issues in collaboration with the SEO agency.
Implemented best practices: daily incremental and full backups, CDN, firewall on the machines.
Custom development of connectors to the CRM.
Present status
No incidents have occurred since our intervention. The sites' SEO has improved, and we are currently working on site enhancements.
