Recovering 1 million lines of code following the sudden departure of the CTO

Project Overview

La Playlist is a "musical trend office," consisting of experts in music and brand identity. Have you ever wondered who selects the music you hear in your favorite stores (Lacoste, Etam, ...)? There's a good chance it's a selection made by La Playlist.

Following the departure of the company's CTO, we stepped in to audit the codebase for the new technical director (delivered without documentation, version control, or any form of architectural formalization).

Actions Taken

Our actions followed our standard approach when conducting an audit:

• Analyzing the code structure (Architecture, methodologies, and doctrines, documentation if available, ...)

• Analyzing the environment in which the code is executed, searching for obvious/severe vulnerabilities and errors.

• Documenting our findings and proposing future developments.

After delivering our conclusions and before starting the redevelopment projects, the infrastructure fell victim to a series of attacks. We intervened to clean up the production environment and provided a report on urgent actions to implement.

Additionally, we proposed a new architecture and supported the company in its search for funding (BPI).

Current Status

The solution is stable and functional. We have planned the next stages of the redevelopment alongside the new CTO. La Playlist was able to continue its operations without suffering losses due to these technical challenges.
